First Week

We have survived our first week here in Columbus! It began on Monday night with a picnic at Mary's beautiful home. I was actually having dinner sitting next to Gay Su and having a discussion. It was amazing. We had a full day of assessment training on Tuesday and Wednesday at OSU with Emily and Pat. Nicki made a great first impression by spilling an entire cup of chai down the center of the table!! A visit to our schools was on the agenda for Thursday and we finally got to meet the first four students we will be working with. The week wrapped up back at OSU with a session led by Mary. Awesome!!! In four days we've covered the observation survey, summary, student selection, predictions of progress and roaming. After class on Friday we bought OSU t-shirts and then began our A-Z dinner club by having dinner at Alana's. Nicki had the risotto and Greta had the seafood spaghetti and we finished up with flourless chocolate torte - YUM!! (We take turns cooking dinner on weekdays.) By the way this town goes crazy on football weekends. There have been fireworks going off at the apartment complex all evening and even the city ambulances play the fight song on their speakers.
