It is a dreary fall day here in Columbus. We had sunshine yesterday, but then could it have been otherwise on the day the Bucks clinch the Rose Bowl!?! I should be preparing my oral questions, but you all know how I excel at procrastination. I got to enjoy the hospitality of Sharon Gilbert yesterday at her tailgate party. She is the teacher leader in Marion City and we have been observing her. Buckeye fans put a whole new spin on tailgating! There are parking lots full of RVs. None of these people actually have tickets to the game, or if they do, they often sell them. The satellite dishes and big screen tvs are to watch the OSU game, not to keep up with other games going on.
Jill e-mailed us Thursday to let us know that the central office plan for when we return is to have 2 training classes of 12 teachers each. These teachers will be clustered in 12 of the neediest schools in the district with data tracking results over 3 years of implementation. I guess this is our chance to show what Reading Recovery can do! We know it will be a challenge to handle the work load while teaching 4 students each ourselves, but we're pretty excited about the opportunity.
We are really coming along on the restaurant tour. Figlio's was delicious and a place we would return to. The Granville Inn capped off a day of touring the Ohio countryside to see the fall colors. Haiku offered 'poetic' food (how could we resist?) in the form of sushi and pad thai. Indian Oven expanded Greta's horizons with curry and tandoori chicken and wonderful naan. J. Gilbert's wood fired steaks lived up to the hype and the chocolate mousse cake was fabulous. Katzinger's was a great experience. It's a deli in German Village with wonderfully descriptive names for the sandwiches. You serve yourself pickles out of a giant wooden barrel. The letters L and M have several intriguing offerings, so we have decided to have an L week and an M week. This week we will be visiting LaChatelaine, Level or L'Antibes, and Lindey's.
Well, I guess I really should get to work now. We have a Skype study session scheduled for this coming Saturday to practice our 10 minute oral presentations and I don't want to be the slacker in the group. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Also, we really do love it when you leave comments on the blog.
See you all at Thanksgiving!!
